17th International Conference “Glass Producing Machines” and Seminar “Metals in Glass Technologies”

The Czech Glass Society, in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Glass Producing Machines and Robotics and Department of Material Science, organised the 17th International Conference on Glass Machinery and the seminar ‘Metals in Glass Technologies’ for industry professionals. The event took place on Thursday 3 September 2026 in Liberec (Building G on the TUL campus) from 10:00.
This traditional event regularly brings together experts from both industry and academia. The aim is to provide a forum for sharing new insights, discussing current developments in the field and forging valuable partnerships.

What topics were discussed?

The event focused on current issues facing the glass industry, new challenges and modern technological innovations in the sector.

Although this year’s event was on a smaller scale in terms of both the number of participants and the scope of the presentations, the conference attracted 31 experts from the Czech Republic and Germany, representing academia, research institutions and industry.

Conference programme

The conference programme featured a range of thought-provoking presentations focusing on key topics in the contemporary glass industry. The main areas of discussion included:

The application of lasers in glass production – presentations highlighting the growing potential of laser technologies, which are gradually supplementing or replacing traditional methods in many processes.
Measurements on glass-making machinery – advanced diagnostic and measurement methods for optimising operations and improving production quality.
Numerical simulations – the use of computer modelling to streamline the design of machinery and technological processes.
Decarbonisation – a discussion on ways to reduce emissions, energy consumption and the transition to sustainable technologies.
The application of artificial intelligence (AI) – opportunities for using AI, machine learning and automation in the modern glass industry.

Further opportunities for discussion

Interesting discussions and the sharing of experiences took place not only in the lecture theatre, but also during informal breaks and at the closing session, where participants established contacts for future research and industrial projects.
