About Department

The department is actively engaged in teaching, science, research and development in two fields:

  • Robotics and Automation, which are applied in all industrial fields.
  • Glass Producing Machines, this is the only department of its kind in the Czech Republic and is unique in Europe.

Students at our department acquire two specialisations at the same time. The Department of Glass Machinery and Robotics is focused on teaching university-educated experts who find suitable employment in all areas of industry.
We can offer industrial partners specialised solutions in the field of glass production, as well as general automation in any industrial field.

How to study with us?

The department is regularly an expert guarantor and co-organiser of the international conference Glass Machines and the seminar Metals in Glass Technologies. The next conference, which will be the 16th in the series, is planned for September 2023. The last conference took place on 13 September 2018, and more information about it is available on the website: www.ksr.tul.cz/konference. Previous conferences took place in 2015, 2012, 2006, and 2003.
To increase publicity, the department is a collective member of the Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry. It is also a member of the Union of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic. Its academic staff are members of the Czech Glass Society. The head of the department is also a member of the International Commission on Glass (ICG): TC23 Education Board.

Conference on Glass Producing Machines

We collaborate with many glass and other important industrial enterprises. Collaboration with industrial partners is reflected not only in the themes of assigned diploma theses, but also in their extraordinary interest in graduates of the specialisation, with offers of employment greatly exceeding the number of graduates.
